NKIRU SYLVANUS' KIDNAP: NEW FACTS EMERGE

NKIRU SYLVANUS SSA to the Imo State Government.
It is not news anymore that Nollywood actress Nkiru Sylvanus was kidnapped alongside 2010 Mr Nigeria, Kenneth Okolie from a set she was working on in Owerri, the capital city of Imo State. Neither is it news that the kidnappers have made contact and demanded a ransom of a hundred million Naira. The government and security forces are carrying out their investigations and making plans on how to rescue the young woman.
What is new however is that angst had been growing against Ble Ble who is an Ngwa girl from Abia State in Owerri. Citizens of the state have been asking why a girl who hails from Abia State who does not reside in Owerri was put in charge of the Lagos Laison Office of Imo State and was recently given another portfolio to manage in Owerri.
Of recent however more un-confirmed rumors have emerged that Nkiru has over the past few years been involved in a relationship with somebody high up in government in Imo State and that the eminent wife of the VIP had warned her never to set foot in Owerri again. The inferences are that the woman whose marriage is threatened by the presence of the beautiful actress in Owerri and whose husband is so taken by the vixen has decided to teach her a lesson and is bent on making her husband pay for the sinful pleasures he had been enjoying in secret, openly. Nollywood and Nigerians wait with bated breath for the conclusion of this saga.

NOLLYWOOD'S BEST KEPT SECRET? DON JAZZY IS ENEBELI'S SON?

Don Jazzy
This might just be the best kept secret of the Nigerian entertainment industry. In what appears to be a macabre marriage between music and the movies, rumors making the rounds have claimed that Superstar music producer Don Jazzy, real name Michael Collins Enebeli is the son of late Superstar actor Enebeli Elebuwa. Yes these same rumors had surfaced sometime in the past but had been denied by both parties. Don Jazzy even went as far as releasing a picture of the man he calls father.
Enebeli Elebuwa
Don Collins Don Jazzy's alleged father
A close family member who claimed to have grown up in the same house with Enebeli had alleged that Don Jazzy is actually Enebeli Elebuwa's son. The story goes that the late Enebeli who was on the loose in the early part of his life had been living with Don Jazzy's mother a half illiterate woman called Ngozi who gave birth to the ace music producer in the Badia area of Lagos. After a while the maverick actor checked out on his live in lover and ran off to Greece for sometime. After waiting for Enebeli to come back the distraught new mother moved back to her father's house. She was finally cut off by Enebeli's uncle who had brought Enebeli to Lagos in the first place and sent him to train as railway engineer. She proceeded to bring up the boy on her own.
After Don had made his breakthrough in life he had come back to seek a reconciliation with the late Nollywood star but had been rebuffed by Enebeli who denied knowledge of the existence of a son. To help support the arguement that Don Jazzy is Enebeli's son, insiders say that we should not forget that Enebeli was also a musician. Genes which he must have passed to his son
Question here is who or what do we believe.

KRYZTAL DROPS CINDARELLA

Her name is Chinenye Aharanwa but her stage name is simply KRYZTAL. She is a STAR QUEST first runner up (2011), A highly talented singer and songwriter.
The Pure and Industrial Chemistry graduate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka is a music consultant, voice-over artist, a stage performer and a model.
Kryztal has worked on projects such as the GLO theme song, National Sports Festival Lagos 2012 theme song, Star Quest Live Shows and several radio and television commercials. She has consulted on voice over jobs for GlobalCom, Visafone, Conoil, Oando, Total Gaz and other reputable organizations. The exceptional vocalist from Imo State has also worked and performed on stage with great musicians like Ras Kimono, Shina Peters, 2face Idibia, Alex O, Mike Okri, OritzWiliki, Gloria Ibru, Kween and several others.
Cindarella and WakaWaka are the first musical issues from Kryztal. The two songs which are definitions of a new musical genre, a cross between R&B, DANCEHALL and TECHNO- FUNK are expected to light up the clubs, dance floors and parties of musical aficionados
According to the emergent star the song Cindarella was inspired by the need to do something different for the dancehall scene. "I got together with my producer and the beats came out first then we did the lyrics. Luckily it came out right. It is a song I like a lot. But Waka Waka was different.  I wanted somethng with a lot of soul, something that will address the problems I'd seen around me. A couple of my friends had been involved in bad relationships and had gotten heartbroken because of men who could not keep their privates in their trousers. I like speaking about issues and this was my way of saying that people should stay faithful in their relationships. Somebody also asked me why I opted for reggae as a genre. I could have done any genre but I felt that reggae was dying off especially in Nigeria. Reggae is heavily spiritual and I needed to touch and explore my inner child. Apart from that all the other female musicians are doing the same thing and I wanted to be different."
The Boss of HEAVY METAL STUDIOS Johnson Davidson in whose studio the work was crafted said that Kryztal is the Didier Drogba of the Nigerian Music industry. "She is just about capable of doing anything and CINDARELLA is an unveiling of a cyclone that will turn the industry on its head. What you have heard on Cindarella is just about thirty percent of what she is capable of doing. We will upload another single that is far better than Cindarella before we even start thinking about putting out an album. You just wait."
While we wait let us enjoy this mind blowing "classic" from a mind blowing artiste. KRYZTAL

ANEKE TWINS "WE SOLD PURE WATER AND GROUNDNUTS"

CHIDINMA AND CHIDIEBERE
The first time I met them they were very young impressionable girls. I'd been invited to shoot the movie TANSI in Enugu. My executive producer Chief Pete Edochie had taken me  to the Naiko Hotels at awkananaw to meet with other members of cast and these two girls had walked in. There was no doubt that they were twins what struck me was how similar they really were. You just could not differentiate one from the other. We had gotten acquainted and they with their elder sister who also is an actress became close friends.
They didn't look like they were going to go far in the industry but if there is one thing that has characterized the growth of this two young women in Nollywood it is there dogged determination to succeed against all odds. It is that determination that has taken them from the streets of Enugu where they hawked pure water and groundnuts to becoming a-list actresses, award winners, producers and consummate business women. Chidimma and Chidebere have become very popular in Nollywood and have come of age. What they have not forgoten in their walk from grass to glory however, is their humble beginnings and who has brought them this far.
Chidiebere is a Business Administration graduate while Chidimma is a Mass Communication graduate from the Insititute of Management Technology Enugu. They also hold  BCC, Basic Leadership and Leadership Certificate Courses LCC, from Word of Faith Bible Insititute of the  Winners Chapel. That effectively qualifies both of them to become ministers of the word.
And if you  talk with this two, half the conversation revolves around how grateful they are about what God has done from them in their lives.

Chidimma and Chidiebere walked into our Surulere offices some time back, and after accusing me of abandoning them over the years we got down to reliving old times.

QUESTION: How did it start for you girls

CHIDIEBERE AND CHIDIMMA
CHIDINMA: Our elder sister started acting before us and  was a very good friend of Chiege Alisigwe who then was working on a movie and they said they needed twins so  they cast us

CHIDIEBERE: I think it was the movie Ibuka which was directed by Launcelot Odua Imasuen then Chidi was cast in Agbara. i think it was directed by Andy Amenechi

QUESTION: You people left the industry once for a long while.

CHIDINMA: Our mother insisted that we should complete our education first so we had to go back to school and finish up. When we finish we came back immediately and that wa when we did our first movie BROKEN AMBITION.

CHIDIEBERE: Producing that first movie was not a funny experience at all. We first had to go to God and ask him to show us if this is what HE wanted us to do because he who gives you a vision also gives you a pro vision. We still do not know how we got the money for the movie but from their we have done so many others and we keep growing.

CHIDINMA: Our last movie National Experience  won the Code Of Public Conduct award at the Home Vida Awards. and we hope to win more awards as we keep growing by God's grace

QUESTION: Almost a month ago you girls celebrated your birthday with children from motherless babies homes in Lagos. What motivated that?

THE ANEKE TWINS
CHDINMA: We have always celebrated our birthday with the underprivileged, especially in our Enugu base. This year we were in Lagos to do some work on one of our movies when our birthday came by so we  decided to share our day with them.

CHIDIEBERE
You know you can walk in and hand over gifts and presents but it is not the same thing  like sharing the day with them. It is our way of saying thank you to God for helping us out of poverty, not that we are rich but we are not begging food on the street nor are we selling pure water and groundnuts anymore. We are grateful

It was a brief chat because Chidimma and Chidiebere had to ash across town to Lekki because they had the keys of the house they were staying in, thereby locking out their landlords. The CEO's of Greenville Productions gave out hugs and kisses all around. They might not be the biggest female producers and actresses in Nollywood but they are well on their way. We can attest to that because we know where they are coming from.

TAIWO SAIDAT AMUSA SET TO WIN MISSMOTORS INTERNATIONAL

Taiwo Saidat Amusa
The true cost of a lady’s beauty never shows up on a balance sheet. Spare a thought for this. It is there in the ledger: the bags the jewelleries, the dress, the make-up… and many accessories that make her beautiful. But what seems forgotten on paper is the income from being beautiful, especially pageants.

Taiwo Saidat Amusa, a final year student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho, Osun State, is set for one: Miss Motor International. An unusual pageant at that. She craves your support in her current venture — to be winner of the pageant holding in Italy on September 6. She is banking on Nigerians, by way of voting and sponsorship, to excel at the contest.

Amusa, who is currently Miss Motor Nigeria, says with aplomb, she has all it takes to win the competition having garnered experiences from previous competitions.

With a hope strung together like beads, Amusa is begging Nigerians to vote for her on facebook via Miss Motor International or log on to
www. missmotorinternational.com.

“I’m not just going alone, we are going together,” she says.

Drawing allusion from the African proverb that says a broom can be easily broken, while a bunch cannot, she says, a lovely grin on her face, “I cannot do this alone without people’s support, so, I want them to join hands to show love and care by voting massively for me.”

The Imota, Lagos State-born lady says she’s carrying the hope of Nigerians on her gentle, sleigh shoulders, pleads, “we are coming out together to stand out for Nigeria This is an opportunity for me to stand out as an international model that can encourage others.”

She’s also confident that after the competition, she will come back home to promote safety on wheels. She is equally interested in encouraging and further creating awareness on the new traffic laws and signs created by the governor of Lagos State, Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola.

The beau strongly believes that there are so many things people don’t understand when they are on the road, hence pedestrians and motorists need to be educated further in order to prevent further death. “The only thing that can rescue anyone in this life is patience.”

On how she became Nigeria’s representative, Amusa, who is the first of her parents’ six children, says, Miss Evenly Egbe, who directs activities for the Miss Motors Nigeria contest, sent her pictures to Italy, which was immediately accepted.

She says, “with all these experiences I’ve gathered in beauty pageants, coupled with life on the runway, especially fashion shows such as City People Ankara Fashion Show, Red Line, Needle Craft Fashion, I know I can win Miss Motor International.”

IN the course of her young life, Amusa has been a winner all day. As a student, she was crowned Miss LAUTECH. She’s also been Miss University, Glo Rock n’ Rule concert queen and many others.

More than all these, she is a combination of beauty and brains. She knows her way around.

Miss Motors Pageant

Amusa says her passion for life on the runway started when she was 10. But, her parents, who felt she must first get educated before thinking of catwalk, discouraged her. However, by 2005, she decided to wake-up her modeling career. She broke out of her shell.

“I started doing some runway jobs,” she says. “I stopped in 2007, when I was admitted to study computer science and engineering at LAUTECH.”

Looking back, she says with a brittle laugh, “I used my first two years to consolidate on my academic pursuit and lay a good foundation in my studies. In my third year, I resumed,”

With unlimited talent and beauty she capitalised on an open opportunity that knocked on her door. “I contested for the Miss LAUTECH 2010 pageant and emerged winner, eventually,” Amusa enthuses.

This gave her another opportunity to represent her school in the Miss University Pageant, which held in Benue State where the First Lady of the state hosted contestants representing all the universities.

Winning that competition gave her the courage to continue, believing that the sky is now her beginning.

Pregnant with ambition, in 2011, she took part in Glo Rock n’ Rule beauty pageant and she was selected both at the Ilorin and Ibadan auditions where she rapped and danced respectively.

“The pageant boosted my confidence,” she says. “Before, I couldn’t imagine myself facing such a large crowd.”

She contested for Miss Olokun and was one of the first eight contestants in the pageant. In November 2011, she again contested for Miss Ikorodu Oga and was crowned as the queen. By December, same year, she had contested for Miss Sisi Eko.

Her three attempts at the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant have not been successful, “notwithstanding, they’ve all been fun for me because the contests have built my confidence,” she says.  “At the Glo Rock n’ Rule, I went through lot of screening, where our mannerism, attitude, and all that, were tested, and I emerged one of the zonal winners.”
So lets get ready to stand behind Taiwo Sadiat Amusan as she goes to bring back the Miss Motors crown.

NO REQUIEMS FOR RICH

Early thisweek, news broke that Nollywood actor Rich Oganiru had confessed to the murder of his wife.in his holding cell at the Kuje. There are allegations that Rich Oganiru who used to bear the surname Azu but changed it to Rich Oganiru in 2005 because it is a negative sounding name, (Azu) means "GOING BACKWARDS" in the Igbo language,  poisoned his wife when he went to visit her at the hospital.

Rich Azu (Oganiru)
Doctors found a poison pill in her system during the autopsy. The nurses also said that they had seen Mrs. Oganiru sleeping some few minutes after Rich had walked out of the ward. Like it plays out in a bad Nollywood movie, Rich who is alleged to like money and comfort to distraction may have poisoned the woman in order to have exclusive access to her wealth. The late business woman who had rescued him from poverty.  As  you read this Rich is still in custody while his wife’s remains has been epoited in the mortuary.

Normally Nollywood would have banded together to fight Rich Oganiru's cause but the Industry seems to be strangely quiet over the incident. The reasons are not far fetched. Rich is not known to have friends because of his arrogance. Informed sources told us that Rich was arrogant to the point of annoyance and made a lot of enemies. He was also known to have been very violent and used to beat his ex wife regularly. He once beat her in Mac Davos hotel Enugu where she had come to visit him on location, for the simple reason that she did not bring money for him. When accosted he had locked the door and beat her some more. Friend had asked her to leave that marriage until she had died in mysterious circumstances.

The same mysteious circumstances has taken the life oif the second wive and Rich is the worse for wear.
The question now is will Nollywood help the embattled actor or will they allow him fight his battles himself.
A starlet whom Rich had crossed in times past said this "He should be allowed to face the music on his own. i don't know the true situation of things. But if he has confessed that he killed the woman, i would noit doubt him. That guy! Something is seriously not right with him. he has a terrible attitude problem."

PADITA AGU IS BACK

Padita
She was the sad young face that won so many fans over a few years ago in movies like Burning Heart, Beyond The Song, Into Temptation and Without Apology. Her stock however had already risen before all that when she appeared in the massively popular and critically acclaimed Andy Amenechi's Egg of Life where she starred opposite the inimitable Clarion Chukwura Abiola, Nollywood Legend Pete Edochie, Ebele Okaro Onyuike and co-emergent stars Georgina Onoha and Nkiru Sylvanus. while the likes of Nkiru Sylvanus went on to become superstars, Padita gradually disappeared from the scene. Reason was not the lack of talent but opportunities. Padita had made the decision of finishing her degree course at the University of Abuja. it was a move that took her away from Lagos and Enugu the centers for movie production in. Denied of opportunities to push her talents Padita stuck on picking a few roles here and there until she finished her course.
She made a brief come back in Reginald Ebere's   beside, Francis Duru, Queen Nwokoye and Ngozi Ezeonu where she shone like a million stars. And suddenly Padita disappeared again. This time she headed off to the New York Film Academy Los Angeles campus to update her acting skills. She came back and teemed up with Tu-Face Idibia to shoot one of his musical videos and now Padita is ready to take her pride of place amongst her class of A-list Actresses. Padita is preparing to go on set with her new sitcom aptly titled "NERDITA" We hear that the contract to produce the script was snared by the team at THESCRIPTFACTORY and work on it is almost complete. Shoot is scheduled to start sometime between September and October.

"NERDITA" we hear is completely different from whatever is on air. It is an American style sitcome that chronicles the life of a bumbling nerdy young woman who succeeds despite not having any plans for her life.

THE HEAVY METAL CREW-TAKING OVER THE MUSIC SCENE

KRYSTAL
My friend Malike Benyelia, publisher of Business Diary Magazine, came in from Cameroon to see me. She had asked to see and interview some behind the scenes people in Nollywood and in Music and I was more than honored to take her around. Her international magazine wanted to do a feature on the business side of the burgeoning Nigerian entertainment scene. We had just finished talking with Francis Onwochei, Actor Director, Producer and CEO of FRANKOCHEI Productions and I'd suggested that we head off to Johnson Davidson's HEAVY METAL STUDIOS to talk with him. If you know HEAVY METAL Studios, you will know that it is a hot bed of emerging talents. This was where some heavy weight musicians cut their teeth and learnt their craft. The likes of D banj, Sam Okposo, Rymzo and several others hung out here. Alex O, Adu Deme whom we featured a few weeks back on this blog are working on their recent effort here too. But what really caught our attention when we got here was the number of new talent that are flowing out of this music factory in the heart of Surulere. Here are three of them. And bear in mind taht this is the studio that has just uploaded KRYSTAL Nigeria's new answer to Beyonce.

DESTYNO

DESTYNO

This young gentle dude from Iludin Oro in Kwara State is an awesome talent. Third child in a family of four, he attended Amukoko Grammar School and graduated from Laspotech where he read Business Administration. Destiny took his first music bite in primary five when he started playing drums in his school's cultural dance programs. He also used to mimic and mime Daddy Showkey's hits in local performances. but his life changed forever when his uncle Otunba Biodun Ajiboye whom he ran to for help in producing his first album post college, sent him to Johnson Davidson to acquire professional skills. Since then he has spent four years honing his skills and has in that period become a sound engineer and music producer. Destyno who plays an enthralling brand of music he calls Fuji hip hop has finished work on a six tracker that is about splicing the air waves in two. He is signed on to FAT RECORDS label owned by TRAC who is also the owner of PLATINUM TV. Watching him perform the title track TEMI one cannot help but notcie the remarkable resemblance in looks and style between him and Wiz Kid, a resemblance that he says is his biggest problem.
"Any song i drop now, everybody will think it is Wiz that has come out with something else"

KESH OFUOBI

He is from Arochukwu in Abia State although you will never know it by looking at him. that is because he grew up in the tough neighborhood of Iganmu were he caught his musical teeth at age twelve. that came about when he moved in with ghetto comedin McCarthy. "I used to perfrom with him in his shows as a rap artist but I wasn't very good at it and when  I discovered that I was more of a story teller and I had a melodic voice i deviated into contemporary R&B and a bit of high life mixed with rock. The young man who seriously wants to be an Agricultural Engineer, strange career choice really for a musician has had a bite of the cherry before now when he released his first single OFU OBI, English translation, ONE MIND some three years ago. The song was so massive that it garnered a Nigerian Music Video Awards nomination. Kesh right now is set to launch out again with an album, "IFEOMA", a throw back of Felix Lebarty's IFEOMA of the nineties as title track. KESH is a multi instrumentalist and has engineered and produced other musicians like LKT- Faraway, RUGGED MAN-How Fast and FACE-Tatoo Girls.
"I see myself as a messenger of truth and positive change in the music industry. i admire Fela for his originality, Sunny Nneji for his rythmns and rymes and Tu-face because i think his lyrics are deep. I am inspired by God, my parents and boss here at Heavy Metal Studios Johnson Davidson who has given all of us a platform to become something in life." IFEOMA is scheduled to drop before the end of this year.

Palison Joe
PALISON JOE

He is not by any stretch of the imagination the first musician from Emelaghan Abua(ABOLGA) local government area of Rivers State as hi brother DJ Kris is ahead of him and several others but Palison Joe is on the verge of becoming the best known. What with his single YOLO ready to drop anytime soon. YOLO simply means You Only Live Once which relates to the fact that life is a gmble and you must take every chance you get and make the best use of them.
From a family of seven, six boys and one girl, Palison is the fourth and embarked on his musical journey when he voluntered for and wrote his secondary school's song entry for the Ebony Cultural Festival for Secondary Schools in Rivers State. The song won teh competition and Palison's legend was born. From there, it was only a natural progression into the larger world of music for the Business Administraton graduate of the Yaba College of Technology..
" God has blessed me with a talent. It will be a major sin if I do display that talent to the world and make people happy. that is why it was given to me in the first place and that is why i am into music."
Palison's brand of music is R&B with a touch of Afro Hip Hop
"We are still working on the album but right now we have 7 out of the 13 songs ready and we are ready to start promoting one of teh singles that will be on the album YOLO. I really think that the Nigerian Music scene is improving everyday. We are ready to take over the wrold and i want to be one of those who will help in accomplishing that.
These guys are ready to explode and like HEAVY METAL'S pay off says Their music is Audio/ Videos beyond imagination.
